White Chocolate or Dark?

Ugh. Wasn't it just a few weeks ago that Blogger decided to go all crazy on us? And now the drama is repeating itself (at least for me!) It seems that when I write a post it takes a few hours to update on your readers. So...if it seems like I haven't posted in a while, check the blog out because maybe I already have! I guess yesterday my body was craving fiber. That or the heat made it impossible to think of eating anything actually cooked. Lunch was a salad with everything green I could find. Spinach, green beans, edamame, cucumber, corn, flax, and a little shredded mozzarella. Obviously I needed a little something something to round out the meal so I went with a little fruit salad of all my favorites. It was officially the first pineapple of the summer and it was exactly as delicious as I thought it would be! Pineapple, strawberries, and grapes Lest you think this is just too healthy for me, don't worry. I was just getting the greens in so I could enjoy my new f...

GIANT Goldfish and Chips for Lunch!

Do you remember heading to a carnival or a fair when you were a kid and winning a little goldfish in a bag? I had that experience yesterday times a million! We have tons of weeds growing in our pond, so we decided to get some fish that would eat the weeds, and some edible fish so hubs has something to catch when he goes fishing. We went to a fish farm/store to get them, and we transported them home in plastic bags. If I look like I'm struggling, it's because they were HEAVY! For people who are interested in fish (i.e. not me unless it's on my plate) we got some grass carp and about 60 catfish. I have a feeling that in a few months I'll be writing a post begging for catfish recipes! Hubs had to get in the pond in his little rain boots to put the fish in. A little water got in them though, and I had to document him pouring it out. Too cute! Luckily I was well fueled for the adventure with lunch beforehand. I was wracking my brain thinking of something to eat that c...

Weekly Workout Recap and Tortilla Creations

I have been TERRIBLE about my weekly recaps. Cross training has been completely off the plan for the last few weeks. Hubs and I are spending 6-10 hours a day doing manual labor related to the house building, and my body is tired! I still wouldn't dream of skipping my runs, because somehow they give me more energy and I feel so much better afterwards. But any kind of strength training? Not a chance! New workout routine: painting, carrying lumber, climbing ladders, using saws (LEVEL 3!) Let me know when I can expect to get buff, thanks. Without further ado, here's the numbers for this past week. Monday: Ran 5k Race , and 1 Mile warm-up Tuesday: Ran 6 miles Wednesday: Rest-day (ish! Still worked on the land all day) Thursday: Ran 5.5 miles Friday: Ran 5.25 miles Saturday: Ran 3.5 miles, walked 1 mile Sunday: Ran 7 miles, walked 1.5 miles Running mileage for the week = 30.5 miles I'm happy with the running for the week! My goals for the next week are: --remember...

Gluten-Free Day 3 and 2 Speedy Miles

Don't forget--if you haven't entered my GIVEAWAY yet, do it now! I wasn't quite sure how my taper week for the half was going to go--I haven't been following a schedule for the training, just a mix of things I put together for myself, so I didn't have anything to go by. I'm sort of winging it keeping the distances shorter and going by how I feel. Yesterday the plan was to rest, but after dinner I started feeling antsy and knew I needed a quick run to shake out my legs. I asked hubs to join me, and he said yes! We haven't run outside together in ages and I was so excited! We did a quick 2 mile loop and I led the way, trying to keep a good pace since he's always faster than me. I ran the 2 miles in 16:34. That's a 8:17 pace, what?!! I know it was only 2 miles, but man that make me feel like a rockstar. I know to some of you that's a little jog in the park, but for me---I might as well have been flying! We're on Day 3 here of Gluten-Free! ...

Ikea Madness!

Since we are building a new house, we went to Ikea to order our entire kitchen. We decided to basically get EVERYTHING from there--including the appliances. We drove about 90 minutes into Atlanta to get to the Ikea there, and arrived when they opened around 10. We were finished a gazillion years  4 1/2 hours later. This isn't us walking around for hours picking things out, keep in mind. This is us standing in one place in the kitchen department at a computer talking to the staff to go over the kitchen cabinets and logistics of it all. Lunch was a long time coming and the second we were done I basically sprinted over to their restaurant to eat. I got a veggie wrap and tomato veggie soup: Does that spoon look dirty to you? I was pleasantly surprised about the wrap. It was full of mung bean sprouts, cucumber, carrots, and onions. I saw a white sauce in the wrap and was slightly dreading a mayonnaise drenched, soggy wrap. Instead, it was a really nice mild yogurt sauce, maybe wit...

April Fool's Day!

Happy April Fool's Day! I completely forgot about this until after lunch. My mom used to tell me that you can only pull a prank until noon on April 1st, no later. Has anyone heard of this before? I think she just might have made it up so we had less time to do stupid stuff around the house. Anyway....back to working out today after a much deserved rest day! My legs felt really fresh today, and the run seemed pretty easy which is always a good thing in my book. 6.5 miles in 59:30 (I know that's basically an hour but when you are desperately trying to run faster every second counts). I also thought I must be looking good since I got mega attention from a random at the gym. But then my hubby took a picture of me afterwards, and I realized I was definitely not looking so hot.  I promise I don't have a hunchback. I don't know why I stand like this. Still happy because I haven't seen these pictures yet. What do you do when you get unwanted attention from someone...

Foam-Rolling Wednesday

I was a little worried about today’s “recovery run” after a 12-miler yesterday (which is my long run) but Woo-Hoo it was great! Managed the 5 miles at a teensy incline in just under 47 minutes (9:19 pace). Some foam-rolling was definitely in order though.  Seriously, this is the best invention ever. So simple. So awesome. I’m in love with my foam roller.  <3 I have a pretty basic cheap one from Wal-Mart:   But I'm thinking about upgrading to a more "serious" looking one...with more bumps and grips. Those of you who foam roll--do you think it will make any difference, or should I just save my moolah? Any recommendations? I'm pretty happy with mine right now, but I do sometimes wish it would work out the knots just a little bit more, you know? Dinner was a tofu stir fry with brown rice frozen meal. I added some extra veggies to bulk it up a bit. Delish.  Amy's Organic Teriyaki Bowl w/ extra Kale
