What Do You Want to do After 18 Miles?

If you said go to Ace Hardware, work all afternoon, and then hit up Home Depot for some Saturday night action, you're weird. Also, we have something in common.  The morning started out like so many weekend mornings so...hitting the alarm at 6:10 and getting the oatmeal/bathroom routine out of the way. Tried to take some pictures to show you how excited I was to be running this morning. Let's just say 7am photo shoots are not my thing: Also, it was COLD this morning. Not complaining (yet) because it's still a novelty but I actually didn't sweat much the entire run. Bizarre.  Covered 18.04 miles in 2:53:57. And yes, I want to include those 0.04 miles because they COUNT. Garmin stats: Drove my stinky tush to the hardware store to pick up some house stuff after the run, and then lunch and some work. BOO. Started getting HUNGRY for dinner earlier than normal-no surprise there-so I made a garlic/chicken/broccoli stir-fry to top some jasmine rice with. Not sure who is ...

I'm In Love and I Don't Care Who Knows It

Saturday night. You know what that means.  It means that I am going to watch a little TV with the hubs, maybe read a little while he beats up some bad guys in his video games, and then read as many Runner's World articles as I can before I attempt my 20 miler tomorrow morning. Yes, I am a party animal. Luckily I got in my carbo-loading today with a veggie "burger" from Five Guys. And then (what else?) a little fro-yo action. Hubs decided a frappuccino would make a better afternoon snack. Weirdo.  All the sugar must have gone to his head because he wanted to join me for a very hot run this afternoon. It wasn't a run day for me, but I ran 1.5 miles with him around the lake before jumping in for a swim. I can't even pretend there was any actual "swimming" done. I basically just flopped around on a noodle and it was amazing.  I have serious anxiety right now about my long run. I almost feel like I do before a race. Really nervous, not sure if I can h...

Indulgence Decisions and Pink Animals

The day's workout = sitting on my tush in the backseat, planning stops to get food. We're about halfway between out town in Georgia and New Orleans, Louisiana. 300 miles to go. Not impressed. After a stop for the bathroom (I needed to go about 5 minutes into the drive, whoops) a stop for lunch, and then a stop for fro-yo (unplanned--Starbucks was closed so I found a substitute in fro-yo)--what else is there to do? Right. Reminisce about the amazeballs fro-yo! Any guesses which of the three was mine? Of course! The one with pink frosted animal crackers! Just me and my Mac in the backseat, hanging out. Trying to remember what it was like to stand up. So lucky that my hubs made a awesome roadtrip playlist, plus now he and our friend get to listen to my fantastic singing for 5 more hours--lucky them!  Stay tuned for a pretty amazing GIVEAWAY for tomorrow! This item has made me so happy over the last few days, so I know you'll love it too! I will give a million doll...

Captain America, Fro-Yo, and My Long Run

Yesterday when I woke up I was NOT in the mood for a long run. After my snake incident   on Friday night, I was genuinely too freaked out to run on the trails around the lake. So, I stayed inside, doing a circuit workout instead. Hubs, our houseguest, and I set off around noon to visit Five Guys. Now, I've been there before, and love the burgers. But I wasn't feeling meat, so I settled on the veggie burger. Heads up--there's no actual "burger" in the veggie burger. Just veggies on a bun. It was actually really tasty! I loaded mine up with grilled onions, grilled peppers, lettuce, tomato, pickle, ketchup, and mustard. Yum. It is weird that I honestly thought it tasted like a hamburger? I guess I like the toppings more than the actual meat itself. Anyway, paired with some peanuts it made a great lunch: I had some coupons for for free fro-yo that obviously needed to be used immediately, but the boys wanted to see some silly comic book movie. Thankfully, Captain ...

Gluten-Free Week Recap

As you know, my "week" of gluten-free eating was actually only 5 days long: Monday-Friday. I wanted to eat my normal food during the half even if it wasn't GF, and I also wanted to be able to indulge afterwards with whatever I wanted! In those five day, I eliminated all gluten from my diet. Some big switches were wheat/rye bread for rice bread, wheat tortillas for corn ones, and replacing some of my snacks foods like pretzels and crackers for gluten free versions. In terms of my energy in that period, I didn't notice any difference. Where I did see a difference, however, was on the digestive side of things. While I definitely don't suffer from Celiac's Disease, my stomach was much happier eating wheat free. Less irritable, happier bathroom trips. Getting all the innuendo folks? Talking about poo. Please don't stop following me. Just trying to be honest! This alone would be worth me eliminating most gluten from my diet. The plan right now it to elimina...
