It's been three days since I finished my first marathon. Am I in pain still? Yep. But am I ready to start planning the next one?
You bet.
I was considering signing up for a race further from home this time, but there happens to be a pretty great race nearly on my doorstep, and one that I've heard some great stories about. Any guesses yet? It's in Atlanta...this spring....The Publix Georgia Marathon!
The Georgia Marathon is on March 18th, which gives me just over 4 months to prepare. Sounds perfect to me! The field is made up over over 10,000 runners, which I'm really looking forward to. Small races are wonderful, but this is going to be my first city race. It starts and ends in Centennial Olympic Park, and runs through some of the best areas in Atlanta.
The Publix Georgia Marathon was also just awarded the 2012 Southern Region Marathon Championship by the Road Runners Club of America. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me.
Anyway, it's pretty obvious the race is a great one, in an awesome city (nope, not biased at all). But let's be honest here - I want YOU to run it with me! Thanks to US Road Sports, I am able to give away two race entries for those who are interested in the race.
Yes, that's right. Two marathon race fees (which is currently $95, if you want to register HERE) are waived so that I get to hang out with two of you. Alright, fine...if you don't want to hang out or run with me that's fine. But I will make you take a photo with me. That's in the fine print somewhere.
Don't think you can run a marathon? You're wrong. Maybe you have just finished a half and you're ready for the next step, or maybe you are ready for your next marathon of many. Either way, 4 months is plenty of time to get you up and running!
Here's how to win a free race for the Publix Georgia Marathon:
(none are mandatory, but the more you do the better your odds. Leave a comment for each entry!)
+1 Follow Gourmet Runner
+1 Leave a comment telling me why you want to run the Georgia Marathon
+1: Like Gourmet Runner on Facebook
+1: Like the Publix Georgia Marathon on Facebook
+1: Visit the Marathon's Website and tell me something you learned about them
+1: Spread the word! Talk about this giveaway on Facebook, Twitter, your blog, or anywhere else.
That's a lot of ways to win! I'll draw two winners on the 30th of November, 2011.
I also want to organize a blogger meet up for that weekend in Atlanta, so even if you are NOT interested in the race, leave a comment to let me know if you would be interested in meeting up with a group!
You bet.

ReplyDeleteI checked out the website and learned that the start/finish is at Centennial Olympic Park - so cool!
ReplyDeleteI follow you!
ReplyDeleteWhat if I just want to do the half would that be all right? I've looked at this race for years since my sister lives right in PeachTreeCity and I would love to do a race there with my niece and nephew can watch me finish a race. That would be totally awesome!!
ReplyDeleteI learned that the marathon this year only had about 3K or so participants and the half had about 10K or so. Interesting I always thought it was bigger but that seems like great race control numbers!

I started running to lose weight (I've lost 100 lbs) and I've kept doing it because I love it. So...I want an entry simply because it's another race I can do :-)
