New Orleans: The Sights and the Workouts!

New Orleans was seriously a beautiful place--I'm so glad we went. If you missed the recap of all my eats and drinks in New Orleans , check it out! I had some great pictures of the city (well, ok--my hubby took some great photos) and I wanted to share. I hung out with some pretty cool guys at the "Moonwalk" along the Mississippi: I know. I need real-life friends badly. Moving on.... I did manage to get in a good workout or two while I was there. Aside from lots of walking around, I also fit in a tempo run (6 miles) and a quick elliptical workout the next day (5 miles, 45 minutes). Both mornings the gym was EMPTY--along with the hotel lobby and heck, even the streets!  I think we managed to do all the top touristy things in the city, and saw all the historical landmarks. Here's the photo dump: Jazz at lunchtime? Check. Random Mardi Gras float? Check. Awkward couple photo? Check. I didn't hold it! But hubs did. Ok, ok, enough ...

New Orleans: The Food, The Drinks, The Cleavage Cupcakes

Well--that was some vacation to New Orleans! Total length of vacation = 60 hours Time spent sleeping = 16 hours Time spent driving = 18 hours Posing in the French Quarter So....time ACTUALLY spent on vacation = 36 hours. But we managed to fit in so many sights, eats, drinks, and fun times! Here are some of the best food and drink highlights: The first night at Pierre Maspero's we started with some fried alligator for an appetizer. Nothing special, but it had to be done! I followed with an appetizer of crab cakes as my main, and a glass of sauvignon blanc. An order of--what else in Louisiana? Fried alligator for the table! Crab cakes with parsley and red pepper remoulade A glass of sauvignon blanc with dinner. After dinner it was inevitable that the three of us end up on Bourbon Street. I'm not a big drinker anymore, but I wanted to have a hurricane at Pat O'Brien's just to say that I had! So I shared one with the hubs--and I'll b...

Indulgence Decisions and Pink Animals

The day's workout = sitting on my tush in the backseat, planning stops to get food. We're about halfway between out town in Georgia and New Orleans, Louisiana. 300 miles to go. Not impressed. After a stop for the bathroom (I needed to go about 5 minutes into the drive, whoops) a stop for lunch, and then a stop for fro-yo (unplanned--Starbucks was closed so I found a substitute in fro-yo)--what else is there to do? Right. Reminisce about the amazeballs fro-yo! Any guesses which of the three was mine? Of course! The one with pink frosted animal crackers! Just me and my Mac in the backseat, hanging out. Trying to remember what it was like to stand up. So lucky that my hubs made a awesome roadtrip playlist, plus now he and our friend get to listen to my fantastic singing for 5 more hours--lucky them!  Stay tuned for a pretty amazing GIVEAWAY for tomorrow! This item has made me so happy over the last few days, so I know you'll love it too! I will give a million doll...
