Weekly Recap, New Eats and a Winner!

Another week come and gone! It hasn't been a week of anything spectacular but when nothing bad happens it's considered a win, right? Monday : 20 minutes of Spin, 45 minutes of yoga Tuesday : 6 Miles Running Wednesday : 45 Minutes of Spin, 30 Minutes of Strength Training Thursday : 7 Miles Running Friday : Rest Day! Saturday : 13.1 Mile of Running Sunday : 30 Minutes of Spin, 30 Minutes of Strength Training That last workout was definitely the best, because I had an awesome companion - hubby! We each tackled 10 minutes of cardio separately - Tim on the treadmill and me on the bike - and then did the strength training together. Push-ups, ab work, planks and tricep dips. Awesome workout! I had to bribe him with burgers and fries from Five Guys afterwards, and a trip to see the new Mission Impossible. It was good, but like 2 hours longer than it needed to be. We get it already. There's a crazy mission, a bomb, some guns and an international misunderstanding. It'...

An Entire Day of Running

I hope this title didn't mislead anyone into thinking I forget to mention some crazy ultramarathon and I was actually, you know...running all day. Ha! Far from it. In actuality though, I spent pretty much my entire day so far thinking about it, reading about it, watching it on TV and then a little actual running in there for good measure. If you live under a rock, or have better things to do with your Saturdays, today was the US Olympic Marathon Trials in Houston, Texas - for both men and women.  I know international races often have more prestige and have a wider range of competitors, but I really enjoyed this because I honestly felt like I would have been happy no matter who won. Source So it was (in order) Shalane Flanagan, Desiree Davila and Kara Goucher who rounded out the top 3 for women, and who will be representing the US in the Olympics come summer. For the men, top 3 were Meb, Ryan Hall and Abdi. Source As we speak, I am wearing underwear, a running jacket,...

What I Stuff My Bra With : Personality!

I've mentioned before that I have a sick addiction to the game Jeopardy. Dinner needs to be at 7:30 pm sharp every night - not because I'm always hungry at that exact minute but because that's the start of the show. If anyone is interested, the online Jeopardy quiz is next Tuesday-Thursday, if you want to try out for the show.   Once upon a time, I made it to the first interview and game trial stage (where I didn't meet the host) and got rejected because I lacked personality. Trebek, please .  I'm overflowing with personality. I eat personality for breakfast topped with Greek yogurt. I have so much excess personality laying around that I stuff my bra with the stuff.  You KNOW I could use the padding.    I'm only telling you guys this because the comments I get about me being funny straight up crack me up. Kari did a post a while back where she said she was funnier in person that on her blog. I'm the opposite, 100%. (Unless you happen to think I'm...

Weird Accents and Pad Thai

So - I was unsure how the old vlog would go over but no one wrote an email telling me I harassed their eyes so we're all good on that front. I got a lot of comments asking me about my accent and what the heck it is. Basically, I'm a mutt. American people think I sound weird and English people think I sound extra weird. I'm totally that kid who gets picked last for dodge ball and I don't fit in anywhere. Hubby liked all his comments. Seriously guys, you gave him such a big head. I swear he's walking around so much prouder today. I've never edited comments before but I'm going to have to go in and delete every reference to a hot, hunky, or funny husband. I spend a lot of time convincing him he's lucky to have me. Don't screw that up for me.  I think my favorite compliments were the ones where the commenters said I was "real." Really, if I was going to make up a fake blog persona it would be so much cooler than this. It wouldn't be...

500 Followers! My Video Debut and a Giveaway

I can't believe 500 of you have such low standards. Seriously. I mean, thanks. Yeah, thanks. Anyway, in honor of hitting the big 5-0-0 I though I would try my first ever video on the blog. I enlisted the help of hubby but that may or may have backfired. Watch at your own risk. Movie agents, hold your calls. The offers are flooding in but I really want to read each script carefully before deciding on my feature film debut. I wanted to thank you guys by hosting another giveaway - but this time not one for anything I received for free, anything I feel the need to promote or anything that you need to like, click or follow to enter. I read the book Born to Run over Christmas and loved it - couldn't put it down until it was finished. So I want to buy the winner a copy, along with this great cookie cookbook whose proceeds go to fund pediatric cancer research. I'm not made of money by any means, but I'll be using some of the money I earn through Foodbuzz ads from thi...

High Rolling and Recent Eats

After my less-than spectacular group run on Saturday, I was more than ready to do...nothing. The couch was calling me, and I was happy to oblige. So it was a pretty crazy night of high rolling - lots of champagne, gold, late nights - the usual. Oh, and by champagne, I mean the bottle of sparkling wine ($8) that was supposed to be for NYE, but I couldn't handle after my one beer. And by gold, I mean an old version of the Alaskan mining show Gold Rush. And by late nights, I mean I went to bed at 8pm. Yeah. Part-tay. Even if I didn't actually DO much this weekend, I did eat some different meals that were pretty fun. Anytime I eat something that takes longer than 7 minutes to prepare I consider it a success. First up, the lazy plate:   Toasted sliced pita bread, celery, carrots, turkey meat and hummus. Fun finger food. It was really filling but obviously pretty low calorie and not long-lasting. Any suggestions on what I could add in to make it more substantial? Cheese, mayb...

Well That's Embarassing...

It really shouldn't come as a surprise that I get embarrassed a lot. I think I'm pretty sensitive when it comes to doing stupid stuff, and since I do stupid stuff all the time....it's a vicious cycle. Here are a few of the ways I have been embarrassed in the past: Yesterday hubby looked at me and asked why I was dressed "all sexy." First I was flattered, until I looked down to see what I was wearing. Nope, not sexy lingerie, a pretty dress or some trendy getup. Jeans. Blue jeans and a grey t-shirt. Working at home is beginning to be a problem if jeans are now considered my sexy clothes. I might need to reconsider PJs as appropriate daytime clothing. Wait, sweats aren't sexy? But PJs are, right? Today I ran with some runners I found online (not as stalkerish as it sounds) and we were chatting about paces, past races and expectations beforehand. I was pretty embarrassed to have to ditch them at about 6 miles - I was ready to start running BACK to my ...
