The Advantages of Being Married to a Blogger: The Video

So the last video Tim and I did was so much fun I wanted to try another one. I got him to say a grand total of three words, people : "Hi, I'm Tim." So proud.

One day you guys have got to see these outtakes. Truly hysterical. Let's say there are lots of muscles and plenty of fist pumps. Seriously, don't ask. It took us a lot longer than it should have but was hilarious for every second.

If you can't see the video, it talks about the advantages (ok, and disadvantages) of dating or being married to a blogger.  I'm curious - if you are a blogger, what do your friends/family/spouse think about it?
Overall, Tim is definitely supportive. I think it makes him happy to see me happy, so everyone wins! And whatever he says in the video, he really does think it's awesome. Promise.

Anyone else put up a vlog before? I hosted mine on Youtube, any alternative suggestions? If you haven't tried one yet - what's stopping you?
I love to hear blogger's voices - if you haven't uploaded a video yet, give it a try. It's so much fun!

  1. Laughed the whole time! What a great sport he is!!

Mike loves the blog. But I think its cause of all the cooking I have been doing. I don't think he's stepped foot in the kitchen in a LONG time (he used to be the main cook of the house).

  2. HAHA! This is hilarious! You two are so cute and I love that Tim is such a good sport about it all. I laughed the hardest when he put up the sign about the food getting cold after pictures are taken. That's what my husband complains about all the time! lol But it's second nature to him now that I will be taking pictures beforehand. Overall my hubby is super supportive about my blogging. At first I had to find a balance of my time because it was taking so much of it, but we both worked something out. As for my family and friends, they love it! I love when they get inspired my something that I post. It feels nice to have that validation.

  3. Love the 715 online friends and 4 real friends! :)
Haha. I was telling my boyfriend about so-and-so and her kids and what they did together at the park. So my boyfriend asked, who is this person? I said "Oh it's (name) from (city, state)."
I also received a number of christmas cards and gifts from different running friends and my boyfriend asked, "who's that from?" It always baffles him when I said "My running friend from ( State )."
By the way, these running friends give the most thoughtful, coolest gifts - Gu gels, Stinger waffles, sports beans and running socks. Even though I have never met these people before, their gifts are always RIGHT ON!

  4. Mike hates being on the blog. He's not into it at all. I think he's shocked by me getting packages every day though. I always show him the stuff but to be honest, I don't think he goes to my blog very often at all. I think he was sad when it took a turn to the running blog. I rarely make sweets anymore. My mom thinks people are going to stalk me and find me. My sisters make fun of my pictures.

He is also very supportive. He told me he thinks it's sexy bahahaha. Seriously though he said that he loves to see me so passionate about something and loves what I have turned my blog into over the last few months!

  7. Meeting people from around the world. Right on! Hi from Cebu, Philippines.

Love the vlog and how supportive your hubby is. Its so sweet of him to say "...she's in great shape." Awwwwwwwww!

My husband is also supportive. He thinks blogging is really cool. I don't think i would make a vlog. I fear getting made fun of =[

  13. My family lives 1,000 mi away and we talk once a week on the phone. I figure that if they read my blog they would already know what I have done and we'd have nothing to talk about. So my family doesn't even know I have a blog.

Hubby is supportive of my blogging, however, he doesn't enjoy the time I spend reading blogs of others. It seriously takes a lot of time even though I skim a lot of stuff lately.

  14. I've been following your blog from my other personal blog and absolutely love it. SO now that I'm updating and creating a public travel blog, I figured I would follow you from this one as well. :) Your witty, funny and very creative and I enjoy reading your blog posts. I'm a fairly new runner too so the information you provide is fantastic:) Keep up the great blogging!

  15. Loved the video, very funny! My husband doesn't get the blogging. He thinks it is weird that I look at pictures of people I don't know or pictures of food. Oh, well!

  16. I loved watching this video!! You two are so cute and funny! Thanks for sharing!

  17. Love the video. Loved the signs your husband held up, they were hilarious!!!!

The only person that knows I blog about weight loss and health is my mum (as she mostly takes the body shots for my blog). Never thought of doing a vlog as I guess I'm still new to blogging and haven't experimented yet. I only just figured out how to reply to comments the correct way a few weeks ago. So I think I'll wait until I'm comfortable with the basic blogging before experimenting with vloging.

  18. you two are HILARIOUS :) Loved the signs...

Keep these vlogs coming! No, I've never done one, I'm not even sure HOW you do it! LOL

  19. My husband thinks blogging is pretty annoying, but he likes all the pictures of the kid. He'll just stroll through for the pictures.

Honestly, I think he thinks the excessive running is more annoying than the blogging. Or the combo of both. :)

  20. I like you guys.

My husband hates being on the blog, but loves reading it, which I think is funny.

  21. That was such a cute video! My husband thinks running is weird so I'm sure he thinks the blog is weird too... (he may not admit it but I know he actually likes that I love those things ;))

  22. My husband loves attention, so he refuses to read the blog, but he loves being photographed for it, or helping me take photos for it. I haven't gotten any edible samples, only running stuff, so he's totally jealous and wants free stuff too (although, if he can't even be bothered to read a blog, he's unlikely to start his own). The rest of my family all reads it and loves it so much they bug me if I don't post enough for their liking! I've done v-logs, and this makes me think it might be time for another one! I'll echo all the rest of the comments and agree that I love your second one even more!

  25. You are so cute I can hardly stand it! Love the video and especially the signs. I couldn't get my husband to do something like this if I bribed him with sex twice a day, every day, for a month :)

  26. That was so cute. You guys are adorable. My hubby's okay with my blogging too. He knows it's a bit obsessive but he also knows it's relaxing and fun!!

  28. Ha ha, this is awesome and you two are the best! Brian is really supportive and loves that I have the blog and what I do with it….but sometimes he gets weirded out if he is in it too much. He's such a private person and is always worried about his players and students lurking around online and seeing embarrassing pictures of him :)

  32. Very cute vlog!! Love your sense of humor with Tim! I posted a video review of my nathan hydration pack a year ago - it was scary to be talking to people instead of just writing.

  33. hahah that video was so true. I showed it to my fiance and he definitely agreed. I think the worst part for him is eating some of the weird stuff I make him. He is a very meat and potatoes kind of guy, but he's been a great sport about it!

  35. This is a cute video :) I have never done vlogging because I am still very new to blogging in general. But I agree, its a nice way to get to see a person in more dimensions than just the written word.

  36. i was trying to think of a way to say "you both are awesome, i really like you as individuals and as a couple, and your blog is hysterical" and here is what i came up with: "i want to be in your marriage." pretty much the creepiest thing you've ever heard, right? so, uh, let's stick with the first thing. yeah.

  37. I just love your vlogs! You guys are so freaking cute and funny!

  38. You guys are too cute! I feel like Tim is going to burst out laughing at any moment.

I've never done a vlog but that might actually be something Allan would enjoy doing on the blog so perhaps we will do that in the near future!

  39. Hahahah this is amazing! "No more vegan bars" and "715 internet friends, 4 real" are my favorites!

I haven't done a vlog but you are definitely providing inspiration. It is fun to hear a blogger's voice after reading so much about them (ie. stalking them) for so long.

Race the Bar 5k Recap (AKA: A Personal Worst!)

Do you remember a few weeks back, when I was all braggy about running in Florida in February/March? Sunny mornings around a lake with a light breeze off the water have turned, cruelly, into humid stretches of time where I am humbly reminded of my own limitations. You guys, I see these gazelle-like creatures, men and women alike, who prance on my running route with compression socks, a soft glow of perspiration at their brow. It's beautiful. It's also a harsh reminder that I am not them. I am currently running in the thinnest, smallest items of clothing I can without offending anyone (shirt stays on, people). I dare not step outside without some awful visor or wide-brimmed hat. When I hop in the shower after a run, my face is a deep crimson that causes my husband to voice his concern for my general well-being. Have I mentioned this is what happens after my easy runs, with a few walk breaks thrown in? Yeah. It's humbling. Now, I'm not complaining. It's beautiful

1st Wedding Anniversary--Celebrating with Chocolate!

One year ago today, I married the love of my life. And I couldn't be happier! In celebration of our very first anniversary, here are some pictures of our favorite moments together: Our first trail race together Hiking together in GA And of course, our wonderful wedding in Hong Kong. We both decided to keep things very simple, with a casual ceremony with a few friends and family and then lunch at the Mandarin Oriental. Exactly what I wanted! With our parents after making it official! Our entire wedding party. Just family and dear friends! Goofing around with my garter at the reception lunch! You think you know what couples do after they get married? You know, their first night at man and wife? If you guessed eat ridiculously delicious chocolates in their bed at the Grand Hyatt, you're right.  Oh, I haven't changed. One year later and I still celebrate with sweet things! Thanks Tim, for being a wonderful husband. I love you!

Brace Yourselves: Cuteness is Coming

One of the hardest things about moving, for me, was wondering how the cats would adjust each time. Although our cats are super travelers at this stage, I feel really guilty every time we have to pack them up and force them onto a plane. I remember my grandma telling me years ago that when she moved with a cat, they put butter on their paws. That way, the cats spent the first day in a new house licking their paws to get them clean, and that was enough time to lose the "smell" of the old house. I love that story, and I wish the same principle applied to longer moves. Anyway, that's a super long intro to say that for the fellow cat ladies out there, our three fur babies are insanely happy in this jungle gym of a home here in Florida. It's warm, there are plenty of sunny spots to curl up a take a nap, and they have lots of room to spread out. Despite the space, of course, they still usually want to take a nap on my head at night. Obviously. They also love climbing on ou
