Road ID Giveaway Winner!

Thanks to everyone who entered my Road ID giveaway! I was so happy with all the entries. So important to keep safety in mind during our runs--and as some people pointed out--ALL the time, not just while running! I had on my Road ID during my long run on Saturday and got some great responses from my running group. One of the guys actually took a tumble and turned out to be ok...but he had his Road ID on anyway, just in case.

There were 199 entries, which got plugged into Random.org....

P.S. There's no going back on mantras for the Road ID. You have a legal obligation to get "Try not to die" on yours. Hope that's ok? If you don't read Stephanie's blog, you must! Girl is hysterical. I dare you not to laugh while reading ANY of her posts! 

Because I'm ridiculously, ridiculously good looking nice, there will be another giveaway in the next day or two. I'm just in such a good mood having the family here that I think you guys deserve a pick me up too.

Can you think of something funny to put on a Road ID? Kari has one saying, "That's what she said."-can you top that?
I might get another one to wear on my marathon....something along the lines of "If Oprah could do it..."

    Hahaha. Omg steph is awesome! She MUST get that on her ID! I am so not creative funny...maybe I should just put something like "just give me chocolate" I am sure I would be healed in 2 seconds ;)

    43 miles! I think that is incredible. I have no doubt that you will blitz your upcoming marathon. How did the half go?

    I've only ever run outside once for a fun run and the run didn't go as well as I had hoped so I have totally avoided outside ever since. I think I use my treadmill as a security blanket so if you have any tips for helping me get outside I would be eternally grateful.

    Your Zoolander quotes crack me up. I don't know what it is about that movie, but I just find it hilarious. Maybe it's the combination of Ben and Will - I find both of them funny :)

    Sorry Vanessa, I asked how your half went, I thought you ran it last weekend so good luck for this weekend when you actually run. I am sure you won't need luck though because you have trained so hard for it. You will do an amazing job :)

    I couldn't think of anything clever, but then I read Bikini Runner's race recap from the Denver Rock & Roll Half and she saw a sign that I think is perfect, so when I order one I will have it say "I've done much worse for even longer!" I like it and it makes me smile!

Race the Bar 5k Recap (AKA: A Personal Worst!)

Do you remember a few weeks back, when I was all braggy about running in Florida in February/March? Sunny mornings around a lake with a light breeze off the water have turned, cruelly, into humid stretches of time where I am humbly reminded of my own limitations. Active Bands Review and Giveaway

Click this link at your own risk, but let it suffice to say that I have some wild hair. No, not a couple of curls. A wild, beastly tangle that is NOT allowed out on its own. Ever. So running is a challenge. A ponytail is a given...and then usually a bun. I tried a few different headbands in the past, but they all end up "sweating off" and either annoying me completely or just falling onto the floor. Enter Active Bands. I wish there was some kind of heavenly gate chimes or something to accompany this post. I feel that strongly. I know there are a few "running" bands specifically designed to keep your hair in place, and I can't speak for them all because I haven't tried them all, but of every one I have put to the test, Active Bands are the only ones that work. Brace Yourselves: Cuteness is Coming

One of the hardest things about moving, for me, was wondering how the cats would adjust each time. Although our cats are super travelers at this stage, I feel really guilty every time we have to pack them up and force them onto a plane. I remember my grandma telling me years ago that when she moved with a cat, they put butter on their paws. That way, the cats spent the first day in a new house licking their paws to get them clean, and that was enough time to lose the "smell" of the old house. I love that story, and I wish the same principle applied to longer moves. Anyway, that's a super long intro to say that for the fellow cat ladies out there, our three fur babies are insanely happy in this jungle gym of a home here in Florida. It's warm, there are plenty of sunny spots to curl up a take a nap, and they have lots of room to spread out. Despite the space, of course, they still usually want to take a nap on my head at night.
