Blogger Meet-Up Plans and a Pumpkin Question...

Well, after a few hundred mass emails sent back and forth, I'm excited to say that I get to be a part of a pretty exciting thing tomorrow! The lovely Julia from Pain, Pride, and Perseverance happens to be visiting family in Kentucky for a few weeks, so she is bringing some of that Utah blogger love down South! Tomorrow in Nashville I'll be meeting up with her and a few other lovely bloggers, thanks to her great organizing skills. I can only assume it was planned for a Saturday so we can stuff our faces after long runs. That was the plan, right ladies?

I'm going to need more than one mini cupcake Julia....
Now we're talking!
Thanks for letting me completely steal those pictures from you, Julia. I'm going to just assume that's ok. If not, I'll make it up to you tomorrow!

Aside from dreaming about cupcakes, I have been working out a little too. Wednesday I did my at-home circuit workout, which kicked my tush. I can handle just about everything on there...but burpees? They are the devil's workout move.

Yesterday I headed out for a speedwork session, with a planned 6X800 meters at a 7:56 pace. Made all the targets, thanks to some nice cool weather. Can you believe I'm wearing a sweater right now? I know it's just a weather tease, but the idea of fall is getting me excited....

Speaking of fall: the Pumpkin Spice Latte. I've seen it everywhere. It's like a autumn ritual for people in America.

I like pumpkins. I like lattes. So will this drink change my life? More importantly, it is worth the $72 or whatever Starbucks is selling their drinks for nowadays?

Have you ever met up with a blogger in real life?
Yes! Only one so far, but I had the pleasure of meeting Kat  while I was in Savannah a couple of month ago. It was so great to meet a fellow runner and blogger! Tomorrow I hope to be adding TONS of new names to the list.

Are you in love with the Pumpkin Spice Latte? Should I try it?
Obviously I am incapable of making such huge decisions on my own, and need encouragement. I'm thinking that for tomorrow 3+ hour drive to Nashville, one of these guys might be in order!

  1. I haven't met any bloggers in person as of yet. I would love love love to. If anyone comes to Wisconsin please let me know! haha I know it wont happen. A girl can wish!

I haven't had the Pumpkin Spice Latte either. I have been cooking with pumpkin like crazy the past two weeks so I would imagine it could only be amazing!

  2. Hey Lady! I do love pumpkin but the latte not so much.

  3. Sarah, I live in WI! :)

I am so jealous that you get to have a blogger meet up! Can't wait to hear all about it.

I have met Jess from Run with Jess and of course I know Kim from Life in the Twin Lane :)

I don't like coffee so I can't comment on the latte, but I do like spiced chai tea in the fall. Yummy!

  4. I've met a few bloggers (and actually work with a couple in real life!). I wish it was easier to get together, though. I need more running friends!

I love the PSL. They are pricey, but they're seasonal, so I don't feel bad getting one every once in a while. That plus we rarely eat out, so it's my little treat.

  5. WAIT WAIT WAIT...you haven't ever had a PSL???? WHAT???? I'm in disbelief!!! And I thought we were friends...

Girl grab your car keys and put the pedal to the medal to the nearest Starbucks to treat yourself to one. They are a little treat from heaven. My advice is to skip the whipped cream, just makes a greasy mess on the top and ruins it.

  6. I like the pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks. But I am not overly particular about my coffee either. I also like Dunkin Donuts Pumpkin coffee too and it's cheaper and less calories. I would say if you have some extra cash it is worth giving a try.

  7. I feel like everyone is eating some kind of different pumpkin than I am...I mean I like it well enough but the blog world is acting like it is some kind of holy grail.
I can take or leave the special SBucks' coffee...even the lite version have lots o calories I could be eating not drinking.

  9. I have met up with Jenn from PeasandCrayons.com, we live near each other. It was super neat! I need to try these lattes, I keep hearing about them, but I was so convinced for such a long time I hated pumpkin (I don't..) that I never tried one. I'm so excited for fall!!!!

I am not sure about the Pumpkin spice latte - it sounds sweet and I can only manage to get down 1 or 2 forkfuls of pumpkin pie at holiday gatherings...

But I do think it may be a required element for your long drive :-)

Pumpkin Spice Latte is the perfect start to cooler weather and fall!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Last yea I was OBSESSED with pumpkin spice lattes!!! I got one this morning, though, and it was WAY too sweet! Idk if I just forgot what they tasted like, if they are more syrupy than usual this year, or if my barista just added one too many pumps! But I was seriously sad that it wasn't as blissful as I remember from last year.

That story was pretty pointless lol. OH WELL!

    ReplyDelete
  34. CONFESSION: I haven't ever had a PSL!! I must pop my cherry as they look delish!
    '

Oh I heart Julia!! YOu two are on my list of "must meet" too!! Beautiful women inside and out!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm not crazy about the pumpkin spice latte. (And for some reason whenever I type pumpkin lately I always type pumpking) I AM excited about being able to find Libby's canned pumpkin when I go to the grocery store, though.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I have met about half of the bloggers on my side bar. Real life bloggy meet ups are awesomely fun!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I have never tried the Pumpkin Spice Latte, but have heard great reviews, I am not a huge speciality drink person. That is awesome that you got a chance to meet up with Julia!!

  38. I'd highly recommend the PSL...a great fall treat!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh I'm so jealous of your blogger meet up! I wish I could come to Nashville!

  40. I love pumpkin spice lattes. I may be getting one tomorrow just because they've been out for days and I haven't had one yet! I so miss working there and having unlimited free access. I've only met Kara, but that was awesome, so now I want to meet all my blogger friends in real life. A blogger meetup sounds like paradise. Have a great long run and have fun!

    ReplyDelete
  41. mmm pumpkin, I still haven't had it this season yet!!! And I will I lived down south this weekend. Have fun girls!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I have been making one for years that I like better than the 'Bucks, but try it out if you like pumpkin...

Have a blast at the meetup ... can't wait for the pics.

    ReplyDelete
  45. AHHH...i'm so jealous!! i wish i could be there!! have an awesome time with julia, and can't wait for the play-by-play after...hehe. :)

have a GREAT run and i hope that heat isn't too bad!!

  46. I just went to my first blogger meet-up 2 weeks ago...you will have so much fun!! Not sure there are too many more Kentucky bloggers to meet.

My mom loves PSL but isn't a big coffee drinker. I am a big coffee drinker, the stronger the better, and I find PSL to be way too sweet. But a shot of the pumpkin syrup in coffee is a good (cheaper) compromise!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I've never tried pumpkin spice! Last year my favorite was the creme brulee one...

    ReplyDelete
  48. Have fun at the meetup lady!!

I have never had the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice products. Mostly because they cost like two hundred dollars or some crap. haha not really but I just hate wasting money on something I could probably make at home for like twenty cents!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. YES! I've met up with several bloggers IRL. And now I count a few of those as my very close friends!
Never had a pumpkin watchamacallit but I doooooo love pumpkin treats. Pumpkin seeds, pumpkin bread, pumpkin candles (not to eat of course!)
Have fun at your meet up!

  50. I never had a pumpkin spice latte but might have to get one! I can't wait to get the eggnog ones again.

Race the Bar 5k Recap (AKA: A Personal Worst!)

Do you remember a few weeks back, when I was all braggy about running in Florida in February/March? Sunny mornings around a lake with a light breeze off the water have turned, cruelly, into humid stretches of time where I am humbly reminded of my own limitations. You guys, I see these gazelle-like creatures, men and women alike, who prance on my running route with compression socks, a soft glow of perspiration at their brow. It's beautiful. It's also a harsh reminder that I am not them. I am currently running in the thinnest, smallest items of clothing I can without offending anyone (shirt stays on, people). I dare not step outside without some awful visor or wide-brimmed hat. When I hop in the shower after a run, my face is a deep crimson that causes my husband to voice his concern for my general well-being. Have I mentioned this is what happens after my easy runs, with a few walk breaks thrown in? Yeah. It's humbling. Now, I'm not complaining. It's beautiful...

Brace Yourselves: Cuteness is Coming

One of the hardest things about moving, for me, was wondering how the cats would adjust each time. Although our cats are super travelers at this stage, I feel really guilty every time we have to pack them up and force them onto a plane. I remember my grandma telling me years ago that when she moved with a cat, they put butter on their paws. That way, the cats spent the first day in a new house licking their paws to get them clean, and that was enough time to lose the "smell" of the old house. I love that story, and I wish the same principle applied to longer moves. Anyway, that's a super long intro to say that for the fellow cat ladies out there, our three fur babies are insanely happy in this jungle gym of a home here in Florida. It's warm, there are plenty of sunny spots to curl up a take a nap, and they have lots of room to spread out. Despite the space, of course, they still usually want to take a nap on my head at night. Obviously. They also love climbing on ou...

Chobani Review and Giveaway!

I'm pretty sure it's not a secret that me and Greek yogurt are in a serious relationship. I know, I know...hubby can read this. But he's well aware of the affair. At least once a day I need my fix. Sometimes it's a mid-morning snack with fruit, or a lunchtime topper for baked potatoes. Other times it's the sweet dessert topped with fruit and chocolate shavings that completes my night. Plain, vanilla, fruity...I could wax poetic about the stuff for ages. Don't worry, I won't. What I will say is that as much as I love Greek yogurt, I figured it was all the same. I saved a little money (18 cents on each container at my local store) in order to get the cheaper no-name brand. Then Chobani was on sale, so I picked up a few. Um, this stuff is THICK! So much creamier and thicker - and tastier - than any other brand I've tried. Sorry, extra 18 cents. You are now being diverted to my Chobani fund. I won a Chobani giveaway a couple of weeks ago hosted by ...
