After a day of lake awesomeness and 12 miles of running on Saturday, I was ready to collapse in a big old heap on Sunday. Managed a little catch up on work, lots of blogging, and very little leaving of the couch. Around 5 I was bribed with food convinced to get up and change out of sweatpants and head into town for dinner and a movie.
Hubs had never tried Five Guys before, so we had to go and try it out! I was very happy with mine....

You would be pretty happy too if you were eating one of the these guys. I ordered a "little hamburger" (um, it's not little) and hubs got the regular cheeseburger.

With these massive burgers in our bellies we skipped the fries--even though they looked AMAZING! No worries though, I was able to make up for it today by making something crispy and salty for lunch. Cue kale chips!
I know, I know. I'm totally the first blogger who has ever made kale chips before, right? Oh well, I'm finally on the bandwagon now! These are amazing--I made them with a little olive oil, salt and pepper. Surprised me how quick they cooked up...maybe 10 minutes? They made a great side to my quesadilla!
Workout today was P90X Plyometrics---really felt it!
Have you been to Five Guys before? Best thing to order there?
I love the hamburgers, especially with great toppings! I'll be back soon for those fries....
Ever made kale chips before? Any interesting toppings?
So excited to have made them! I'm going to try them topped with fresh parmesan next, I feel like that would be delicious!
I really need to try out the kale chips they look delicious! I'm glad you had a fun night out with your hubby. :)
ReplyDeleteahhh! you're still rocking the p90x!? i'm proud ... very, very proud.
ReplyDeletei've been IN five guys. walked in, read the menu, walked out. husband asked "wtf?" as i pulled his arm out the door. "there's nothing for me on the menu. they could at least have a grilled chicken sandwich or something." his response? "it's five guys BURGERS and FRIES!" so ... anywayz.
haven't tried the kale chips. i read nothing but raving reviews though so soon, very soon my friend.
I made kale chips for the first time week, and even though I made them a little too salty, i inhaled all of them. Wowza they are pretty good!
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a 5 guys but those burgers look pretty awesome.
I make kale chips quite often. After I bake them and take them out of the oven I sprinkle them with freshly shredded parmesan cheese.
ReplyDeleteAnd I dip them in ketchup to eat them.
Looooove kale chips!
Yum yum yuuuuummmmmers!! I totally miss Five Guys!! I think the bf and I went seriously went once a week when we lived the college life in Auburn...I always got the little cheeseburger--and we could never go w/o the fries!! The original are the best, but the cajun fries are good too! I'm so hungry..now I'm drooling. Perhaps I'll go make some kale chips since I've yet to attempt that...time to get on the bandwagon, right? haha =)
ReplyDeleteI love 5 guys . . . and the fries are totally worth every calorie (though a small is a gigantic size that could feed a small nation). Ohhhh man, 5 Guys -YUM!
ReplyDeleteOH my...Plyometrics brings back some bad memories. :) That video was so hard!!!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Five Guys but I'm dying to go! I LOVE cheeseburgers!
And I've never made or eaten kale chips. *runs and hides*
we just got five guys and i love it. the fries are awesome ....i get the little burger ....
ReplyDeletemade kale chips was not crazy bout them
when they opened up a five guys where i used to live the lines would go out the door, the place honestly looked like a phone booth crammed with about twenty people. people were raving about it, but i've never gone. why? well, i'm a freak and i'm not a hamburger fan...lol. but i hear the fries are worth going in for just by themselves so maybe i'll have to join the masses. :)
ReplyDeletethe kale chips look good. I must try to make those. Ive never had five guys- but i loved in n out when I lived in cali.
ReplyDeleteand awesome job on the 12 mile run!
I love Five Guys! I ALWAYS get into trouble there! I just wish they had shakes!
ReplyDeleteNever been to Five Guys! I think they just recently opened up the first one here...we're a little behind!
ReplyDeleteI tried making kale chips once. I left them in a minute too long and the burnt to a crisp! I have to attempt it again. The store bought ones are so good but sooo expensive! About $7-$8 a bag!
I get suckered into the $8 bags of kale chips all too often. LOVE them though... need to make them myself one of these days.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you got your goodies! Enjoy your FEAST!!
YES!!!! five guys is freakin' amazing! i was surprised a chain had such amazing burgers.. i always get the little cheeseburger.
ReplyDeleteJust catching up on your blog, so be ready for about 230 comments. FIVE GUYS! I haven't tried it because I don't eat red meat, but it smells and looks like heaven. The fries on the other hand I can attest to... SOOOO GOOD.
ReplyDeleteKale chips!? Always something new from you :)
I still need to try those kale chips, they look so good! The only thing is my family probably wouldn't think they're too hot...oh well!
ReplyDeleteYou must try the fries next time! They may or may not cause some arteries to clog, but let me tell you, it is certainly worth it ;-)
ReplyDeleteKale chips are great! I am pretty boring and usually only season them with a bit or olive oil and garlic, I need to change it up a bit!
So Glad you found my blog! Always love reading about new eats, treats and health and active lifestyle!
ReplyDeleteUhmmm I Think I may want a burger in 4 days lol. May have to come down all the way to Georgina just for it :P
I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty sure kale chips would never beat out french fries in my house :).
ReplyDeleteI REALLY need to try making kale chips!
ReplyDeleteLazy Sunday afternoons are the best! And that burger looks DELISH! I love loading it with toppings.
ReplyDelete5 Guys is SO GOOD! We have one in our area, and it is always jam packed. Like a line through the building, and sometimes out the door! Kale chips. Hmmm...I think I need to try them! Thank you for your comments on my blog!
ReplyDeleteI've only had 5 Guys once, but it was really good. I wish you could get fries individually. I only wanted 5-10, not 200! Good call on the kale chips for a salt fix instead of the fries.
ReplyDeleteFor once, I can actually try a chain that an American blogger recommends! I recently learned that we have Five Guys here in Canada and my city has one- crazy :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the kale chips, I don't know why I haven't tried them before. Even my mum makes and loves them...
Congratulations on being able to pass up five guys fries...I think I would rather skip the burger :) ...am I the only one that has trouble not filling up on all the peanuts first?!
ReplyDeleteohhh never tried kale chips before! sounds yummy! i should give them a try :) have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE 5 Guys burgers!!! So good. I love the ingredients they use. So worth the extra $. Never had kale chips and honestly I don't think I would have ever thought of them... I am not very adventurous when it comes to food. I'm getting better as I age though.
ReplyDeleteI've never even heard of Kale chips, I'm going to need to do some research here!
ReplyDeleteFive Guys is so yummy! I just had it on Friday for lunch with a co-worker, but I can never eat all the fries lol
